Particle Analysis - Editing
The particles found can be further selected depending on their
size and other properties.
Remember that if a particle is connected in 2 dimensions, then it
can only exist within a slice. However, a particle connected in 3
dimensions can be connected across multiple slices. Particles
can be edited using the following criteria by clicking the
appropriate check boxes:
- Remove particles that contact the edge of the field of view.
In 2 dimensions, if a particle touches the edge of the slice
field-of-view, it will be removed. In 3 dimensions, if the
particle touches the edge of the field of view in any slice, it
will be removed. The top and bottom slices do not count as edges
of the field of view in 3 dimensions (see the Note about connections in 3
dimensions.
- Max/min particle size. Particles that are bigger than or
smaller than the given size can be retained, and all other
particles rejected. If either of these mutually-exclusive options
is selected, then be sure to set the maximum/minimum number of pixels
in the
# pixels in a particle
field to the right.
- Biggest/smallest particles. Select a fixed number of
particles that are either the biggest or smallest in the image.
If either of these mutually-exclusive options
is selected, then be sure to set the number of particles to select
in the
# particles
field to the right.
